Spacetime Divinations

a grounded approach to the heavenly ecosystem

Almost every AstroCartography consultation begins with some version of the same question, spoken or not.

“Should I move to (x location)?”

Sometimes it is two cities. Sometimes it is an entire country. Occasionally someone has twenty places on a spreadsheet and hopes astrology will eliminate nineteen of them.

These are a completely reasonable expectations.

But after years of doing relocation work, I have come to believe it is rarely the right place to begin.

Not because AstroCartography cannot help. Because hidden inside that question is an assumption that is usually worth examining.

It assumes there is a single best place. As though somewhere on the globe there is one city where life finally starts working. One place where relationships become easy, work falls into place, purpose becomes obvious, ideals become reality, and every lingering uncertainty quietly dissolves.

I have never found that place. And trust me, I’ve been looking!

What I have found is that each place asks different things of us.

What I Have Learned from a Decade of Readings

From the beginning, I noticed something that changed the way I approached every relocation reading.

When clients talked about places they had already lived, they almost never described them in terms of astrology. They did not say, “That was my Sun-Moon midpoint line.” They said, “That was the first place I really felt like myself.”

Or, “I kept trying, but I could never find a rhythm.”

Or, “Everything important in my life seemed to happen after I finally left.”

That is a very different kind of information. It is lived experience. And before I start recommending future locations, I want to understand that experience.

Because since Day 1, your life has already been running the code.

Why I Begin with the Chart, Not the Map

This is one reason I never begin my process with the map. I begin with the birth chart.

The map is a remarkable tool, but it is not the foundation. It is an image that your birth chart projects onto the world map.

The chart tells me what kind of symbolic system we are working with. The map tells me how different places may reorganize the emphasis within that system. That is an important distinction.

I do not think moving somewhere gives you a new chart. Nor do I think a location suddenly grants qualities you never possessed before. Rather, different places invite different parts of the chart into the foreground. The pattern is already there. Geography changes the conversation.

I spend focused hours peeling back the layers of the client’s chart. What are the overarching themes? What planetary patterns vibrate throughout the chart? Which midpoint structures reveal the client’s deepest circuitry? What psychological currents seem to have shaped this person’s life from the beginning?

Only when I have a clear sense of the chart do I begin asking geographical questions.

The Planets Don't Act Alone

People are often surprised that I spend relatively little time talking about individual planetary lines. Not because they are not important. They are.

But a Venus line does not exist in isolation. Neither does Jupiter. Or Saturn. Or Pluto.

Every symbol belongs to a larger structure. Every chart has its own internal logic. And every relocation rearranges that logic in subtle ways.

That is why I do not look for isolated answers. I look for coherence.

In my practice, I work with over 1,300 lines. I look at asteroids, subtle aspects, and various midpoint structures on your map and in your relocated charts. I layer timing on top of location.

A single line on a map can tell you a little something about a place, but it cannot tell you the full story. The full story is in the synthesis of many parts.

A Client Story: Comparing Two Places

I had a client who was torn between two very different locations. She was finishing graduate school in Pennsylvania and trying to decide where to build her life next.

One option was Nashville, where her sister lived. It was practical. She would have family nearby. There were universities where she could continue her work in higher education policy.

The other option was the Pacific Northwest. Seattle, Portland, the surrounding areas. It was less practical. She did not know anyone there. But something about it kept pulling at her.

When we looked at her chart, the difference between the two places became clear.

In Nashville, there was a strong Saturn emphasis. It was a place where she could achieve a lot through hard work and sacrifice. But due to a certain Moon influence, it was also a place where she would need to make adjustments to the culture and the way people related to one another. It was a place that would ask her to be organized, administrative, and focused on duty.

In the Pacific Northwest, the lines were completely different. More Venus. More Jupiter. More Chiron, which is associated with healing and teaching. There was a sense that she would be well-received, that her work would be recognized, and that she could finally step into a more creative, connected version of herself.

She was still in Pennsylvania last we spoke. But she had a plan for after school. A destination. A vision to work toward.

The decision was not about which place was objectively “better.” It was about which place aligned with the chapter of life she was ready to enter.

Another Example: A Couple's Reading

I also do readings for couples and families. These are often the most revealing sessions I conduct.

A couple came to me because they were considering a move to Florida. They had visited several times and loved the warmth and the lifestyle. But they were both having slightly different experiences of the same place.

When we looked at their charts separately, the reason became clear.

For one partner, the Uranus emphasis in Florida was exciting. It felt spontaneous and alive. For the other, the same Uranus energy felt destabilizing and anxiety-provoking.

Neither experience was wrong. They were simply different conversations with the same place.

When they understood this, everything shifted. They stopped debating whose perception was accurate. They could see that both were true. The decision was no longer about who was right. It became about how they could navigate the place together, knowing that it would ask different things from each of them.

Every Move Involves an Exchange

Another thing I have learned is that every move involves an exchange.

There is no location that offers everything while asking nothing in return.

Some places encourage visibility, but demand responsibility. Others support family life while slowing professional ambition. Some nourish the imagination while making basic life structures surprisingly difficult.

This is not a flaw in AstroCartography. It is part of what makes it honest. A meaningful relocation is not about escaping challenge. It is about understanding and choosing which trade-offs you are prepared to have.

How I Compare Possibilities

So how do I choose the best place for someone?

I do not. At least, not in the way most people imagine.

Instead, the client and I weigh and compare the possibilities.

We look at the chart. We look at the time. We look at the places. We look at the person’s history. We look at the currents of life unfolding in the present.

And quickly, a picture begins to take shape.

Often the answer is not, “This is your perfect place.” It is, “This is the place that best supports the chapter you are trying to initiate.”

To me, that is a much more useful venture. Because life is organic, alive, not static. And if AstroCartography teaches us anything, it is not that one point on the globe contains our destiny. It is that place participates in the ongoing dialogue between who we have been, who we are, and who we are becoming.

What a Reading with Me Offers

If you are curious to learn more about what your map actually says, I invite you to explore further (article).

As for a reading with me, I am not like other AstroCartographers. I do not just read a handful of lines.

I work with over 1,300 of them, including asteroids, subtle aspects, and midpoint structures that free maps miss entirely. My software, Sirius, is a significant investment.

I spend hours compiling notes on your chart before we ever speak. I analyze your birth chart in depth to understand the patterns that shape your life. I look at relocated charts, not just the map. I layer timing on top of location.

Most importantly, I do not treat you like a mass-produced product. We establish a relationship, and we can keep talking when the first reading is complete. Over the years, clients who want to learn AstroCartography have really cut their teeth from just a few readings with me, and having those recordings to reference and study.
